SUBSEA SAMPLING UNIT
Kraken Subsea's sampling unit improves efficiency and reduces the cost of subsea sampling operations by reliably capturing samples which can later be analysed once the unit is returned to the vessel deck. We can also provide autonomous systems that take samples without the need for external intervention by ROV or diver.
SAMPLE CAPACITY
FULLY
CUSTOMISABLE
Our subsea sampling unit has been designed to allow up to 8-off individual samples to be collected within dedicated sample cylinders.
Sample cylinder capacity can range from 100ml to 500ml depending on sample size requirements.
All our sample cylinders are certified for transportation directly to a fluid analysis laboratory. Portable, handheld OIW analysers can be supplied separately to support offshore analysis upon request.
MODULAR DESIGN
CONSISTENCY, RELIABILITY & FLEXIBILITY
Kraken Subsea's engineering team have designed our sampling skids to be modular allowing for modifications to be made with relative ease to ensure compliance with our client's needs.
All our units are rated for up to 250barg operating pressure and 2,000m water depths as standard. This can be increased to 20k psig and up to 4,000m water depth upon request.
A closed system by design, there is no risk of accidental discharge to sea.
DIVER & ROV INTERFACE
SAMPLING MADE
SIMPLE
Here at Kraken Subsea we like to keep things simple. As such, all our sampling units come in both diver and ROV operable configurations. This gives us added flexibility and our clients peace of mind should there be any changes to vessel availability and selection.
In addition to this, our skids can be adapted with an appropriate interface to seamlessly connect to your system.
Whether you have a specific tie-in fitting or a simple hot stab connection, we can ensure our units are a perfect fit.
AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS
SIMPLE SOLUTIONS WITH SMART TECHNOLOGIES
Do we like simple solutions? Yes, absolutely! But this does not necessarily mean they cannot also be smart.
With a bit of added electrickery, we can provide sampling units that are capable of taking samples autonomously without any intervention from diver or ROV. Simply deploy the unit, install and turn on. The vessel is then free to leave the worksite to perform other operations.
Our autonomous systems are also capable of continuously logging multiple system parameters such as: date, time, pressure, density, temperature of fluid and samples collected/triggered.
EASY TO DEPLOY
A SINGLE LIFT FOR A SINGULAR SOLUTION
Our subsea sampling units have been designed to fit within a standard dive basket and can be deployed in a single lift.
Forklift pockets are incorporated into the basket design to allow for extra manoeuvrability. Required rigging for basket lifting is supplied with the unit as standard.
The units have also been configured to optimise space and minimise overall footprint.
Standard overall dimensions are 1175 x 1500 x 3010mm (L x W x H).
WASTE INVENTORY
CAPTURING
CONTAMINANTS
In addition to the 8-off sample cylinders stored within the unit, we have also included for up to 3-off larger flushing cylinders.
The purpose of these cylinders is to draw in system inventory prior to collecting samples. This is required in order to clear any tie-in hoses, connection points etc and ensure that all samples collected are therefore representative of what is in the system and aren't contaminated.
These waste flushing cylinders each have a capacity of 30litres.

Waste Stream Purging
Internal pipeline system contents can be purged and collected in waste tanks prior to collecting a test sample. Waste bottles can be sized according to project needs and can be interchangeable on the back deck for additional use.
Sample Capacity
Sample bottles have a capacity of HOLD. Multiple samples can be taken with the option of including additional sample bottles for interchangeability offshore to allow for further samples to be collected within a single mobilisation for additional flexibility.
Subsea Deployment
Unit can be modified to suit various subsea baskets. Whether your project has a footprint or weight limitation, we are sure we can tailor our design to meet your needs.
Diver & ROV Operable
The unit is designed to be simple to use and be operable by both divers and ROV.
